Julia is working with the Center For Resilient Cities And Landscapes as a subject matter expert with the Reef Resilience Accelerator working in collaboration with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. The core mission of the Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes is to help communities thrive in an age of climate change. The Resilience Accelerator will focus on high priority resilience projects in 100RC network cities and has been funded by the Rockefeller Foundation with a $3.7 million grant, of which $2.6 million will support the Center at Columbia University. Julia will be traveling to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef for the first Reef Resilience Accelerator in May 2018. ​

 

From May 29 to June 1, ten reef managers, five international conservation representatives and twelve resilience experts convened on the Great Barrier Reef for the first Resilient Reefs Inception Workshop. The ambition of the several year project supported by Great Barrier Reef Foundation, AECOM, 100 Resilient Cities and Columbia University's new Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes, is to steward a global network of Reef Managers and Experts to work together to combat the threat of climate change upon our coral reefs. Julia worked with the CRCL team to facilitate the workshop, who's outcome was an incredible show of support and new hope for the future of our reef ecosystems.
